Thelma, a widowed former school teacher in South Florida, has lived her entire life in service to the community. Now 78 years old and in poor health, Thelma simply can’t do all the things she used to do.

That’s where Jerry comes in. A good neighbor and friend to Thelma, Jerry mows her lawn weekly and picks up her groceries. He also recently applied to have Thelma’s house painted by Paint Your Heart Out Palm Beach County, a volunteer-based non-profit organization that offers necessary assistance to elderly, disabled, and low-income families with children in Palm Beach County, FL.

Simply180 Steps Up

Here at Simply180, mindfulness and compassion are intrinsic to our company culture. So we decided to start the New Year right by doing something good for someone who’s been such a positive influence in the community.

Via an invitation included with our holiday gifts, we rallied family, friends, colleagues, and clients to get involved. On January 30, 2016, while Thelma recovered from a stroke in the hospital, our Simply180 team came together to help Paint Your Heart Out Palm Beach bring new life to Thelma’s home.

In addition to painting Thelma’s home, we purchased and distributed new mulch in Thelma’s front yard when her good neighbor, Jerry, mentioned that she was unable to afford the mulch on her own. The result was a beautifully painted home and a nicely landscaped yard for Thelma to enjoy when she returns home from the hospital.

A Philosophy of Caring

Simply180 enjoys giving back to the community that has given so much to us. We plan to expand and continue efforts to help those in the community who are experiencing difficulties. With high hopes for Thelma’s continued recovery, we are glad to have been of service to such a deserving lady.
